Meiospore

Setting out to explore the sensuous dimensions of digital encounters, I questioned how machines can convey tactile, sensory experiences – such as the damp, earthy texture of moss between your toes and the feeling of the forest floor on your bare feet. Through touch, Meiospore points to the porous, interlaced ties between nature, humans and technology; absorbing the viewer into a projected visual landscape which changes in relation to gestures and movement. I achieved this by using a camera that analyses the behavior of the humans that enter the landscape of the installation. The data is sent to a computer which control the generative visuals. The physical tapestries that represent moss are created with a tufting technique which makes the moss like soft textures.
